The purpose of the Niles Congregational Church children's Christian Education program is to nurture our children in the Christian faith by providing them with opportunities to learn Biblical stories in a loving community. It is our hope that the children will learn to apply the values of doing justice and living Christ-centered lives and feel valued and supported. We seek to support families, as we know that the family is a vital teacher of the Christian faith.
We hope that the children who participate in our program will experience the church as a community of believers in Jesus Christ that is open and affirming of all children of God, and that they will find a personal faith that will carry them through all of life's journey.
DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR
With this as our purpose, we picked curricula that will work best in different age groups. Our youngest children meet in the Preschool where they share a story, snack, and lots of fun play. Our elementary school aged children participate in a Workshop Rotation Model in Ford Hall. And we use the Seasons of the Spirit curriculum for our Junior and Senior High students.
Also, scattered through the school year, children and youth are encouraged to stay in worship for the whole service. See the schedule (click below) to see which Sundays these are.
DURING THE SUMMER
Our Sunday School program is for toddlers through elementary school. It is a little less formal that during the school year. Junior and Senior High Youth are encourage to worship with the rest of the congregation

With Our Children". Here they participate in a message designed especially
for them. Then the children leave the sanctuary and go to their respective classrooms.

More
about
the Rotation Workshop Curriculum
Each of the three workshops, Creative Art, Performing Art,
and Learning the Story is taught by teachers who have specifically
chosen their workshop because of the confidence they have in that particular
area. In a period of three weeks the children rotate through the three
workshops so they have the opportunity to explore one Bible story in
depth, through three different media.
