Worship
at Niles Congregational Church
The Rev. Jeffrey S. Spencer, Pastor and Teacher

People of all ages, abilities, ethnicities, family statuses, economic conditions, genders, sexual orientations, and cultural origins gather each Sunday morning at 10:00 to worship God. No matter who you are or where you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome here, so there’s not dress code or any other code; come as you are.
February 21—May 2:
All worship (beginning at 10:30) and other programs happening with First Christian Church of Fremont at 36600 Niles Blvd, Fremont, California.

Worship services have a traditional feel with a progressive content. They usually include:

  • Contemporary and traditional hymns and singing.
  • A time with the children (when they’re invited forward and then usually leave for their Sunday School classes, if they don’t want to stay with their families in Worship).
  • A “sermon” based on Biblical insights applied to the needs of today’s world and our lives.
  • Outstanding music led by professional musicians and volunteers (we have an outstanding choir).
  • Shared prayer.

We typically celebrate communion on the first Sunday of the month. Because everyone is welcome at Jesus’ table (you don’t need to be a member of our church or any church to participate), the children return from Sunday School to participate in communion when we celebrate it. A time of fellowship (including coffee, tea, and some sort of snack) follows the worship service.

Whether you are passing through, attending with a friend or relative, searching for a church home, or seeking answers to life’s questions, we are glad to have you join us.

Special Services – Through the year we have several special worship services in addition to our Sunday morning worship. These include:

  • Christmas Eve – A service at 5:00 that is typically youth led and A service at 11:00 that typically includes traditional carols, songs by our choir, and candlelight.
  • Ash Wednesday – An evening service of several congregations, usually held at another church.
  • Maundy Thursday – An evening service of several congregations, often held around the dinner table (a soup supper) and usually at another church.
  • Good Friday – An evening service of several congregations, usually held at another church.
  • Easter – In addition to our 10:00 a.m. service, we co-host a community sunrise service at 6:30 near the Fremont Senior and Teen Centers at Central Park.
  • Animal Blessing – on the first Saturday of October in the afternoon (followed by “drive by blessings” for socially challenged pets).
