Children's Sunday School and Nursery Care Programs

     Niles Congregational Church offers a Sunday School program for our children year-round.

         The Sunday School classes are divided into three age groups:  preschool, elementary, and youth. 

     The preschool children (and younger) meet in the Kidango preschool room.  Screened adult volunteers take turns caring for these kids, typically using children's picture books and simple craft activities.  This program is available from before worship begins until it ends.  The elementary class meets in the classroom between the office and the social hall (Ford Hall) – unless they need to use Ford Hall for the extra room. The youth (junior and senior high) meet in the choir room.

     Children (except for the very youngest) begin each Sunday morning in the worship service and part-way through, leave for their Sunday School classes, also led by screened adult volunteers.  On communion Sundays, they are encouraged to return to the worship service so they can participate in this sacrament with the rest of the congregation.

We are using a new Sunday School curriculum, "A Joyful Path!" in our elementary and youth classes.  "A Joyful Path!" is created by The Center for Progressive Christianity (www.tcpc.org) for use with grade school aged kids.  We think it's an important enough curriculum that we're modifying for use with our youth as well.
